Climate Change: 5 Minutes to Midnight, 15 Years and Counting Down
The United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has released a report showing that the effects of global warming have not yet become irreversible, but that they will in 15 years should action not be taken now on a global scale to cut green-house gas emissions. Research in the report also shows that reducing climate change is not only affordable, but is economically beneficial, claiming, “societies would likely be 5 percent poorer if nothing is done to protect the climate.”

Check out the Doomsday Clock, which since 2007 reflects both nuclear catastrophe and climate change, and is set at 5 minutes to midnight because, “The group (the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists – Ed.) is also unhappy with the progress the UN has made in the field of climate sustainability and negotiations on policies in that area. The threat of global warming, they say, is still real.”
